Massage, perhaps, is one of the easiest ways to relax or, conversely, to tone up our body. But few people use the techniques of self-massage, but it is a real help to the body and it is literally “in your hands”.
There are several basic self-massage techniques that are available to everyone, and we will consider them.
1. Morning and evening massage
Gentle tapping and patting all over the body, kneading the most “problem” areas in the morning will quickly tone you up, and in the evening will perfectly relieve tension.
2. Intestinal Care
In the morning after drinking water and during the day after a meal, it’s very helpful to stroke the abdomen (above the navel) in a clockwise direction. It helps the intestines work and improves the metabolic processes.
3. Before and after exertion
Stretching and massaging before and after exertion warm up muscles and increases the efficiency of sports activities, reducing the risk of injuries and sprains.
4. Hand massage
The hands are home to a large number of nerve endings, so “working out” in these areas has a positive effect on both the youth of the hands and on overall health. It is especially good to massage with cream or massage oil.
5. Massage the soles
There are many different massages for the feet, the easiest way is to roll a tennis ball. To do this, you need to stand against the wall for support and with bare feet roll the ball, not forgetting to do the same with the heel.
6. Calf massage
Many women often walk around in high heels, and because of this the calf muscle becomes shorter and changes its shape for the worse. Therefore, it is useful to stretch the calves. Sit on the floor, bend at the knees, with the soles pressed to the floor. Place your thumbs around the ankle, just above the Achilles tendon. Press with the pads of your thumbs and release after 5 seconds. Then go a couple of centimeters higher and press again. Continue this way until you reach your knee.
7. Neck Massage
Neck massage is especially relevant for those who work at a computer. Clasp your palms behind your neck and squeeze the sides of the neck, moving from top to bottom.
8. Warming massage with grains
To do this, pour grains of rice and aromatic spices: cinnamon, cloves (your choice) into a long sock or stocking, tie this “sack”, then put in a microwave oven for 2 minutes, medium power. Massage your neck, arms, and legs with this hot massager.
9. Nasal sinus massage
If you have a runny nose or suffer from allergies, massage your sinuses with your index fingers. First massage the point above the bridge of the nose, then, resting on the pads of your fingers, follow the brow arches in a circular motion. Then place your fingers under the eyes, closer to the bridge of the nose, and massage the zygomatic bones (from the center of the face to the ears). Complete the complex with a circular massage on the temples. Each exercise should be performed 3-4 times.
10. Eye Massage
Several times a day, especially if you work at a computer, as well as at the end of the day, relieve tired eyes. To do this, rub your palms hard so that they warm up, cover your eyes with them and enjoy the warmth of your hands.
11. If your head hurts
Stand up and bend forward with your head on the seat of the chair and let it rest for thirty seconds. This will relax you and get the blood rushing to your head. Then sit down, run your hands through your hair and clench them into fists. Gently pull and release yourself by the hair, moving from the forehead to the temples and back of the head. This message will significantly alleviate migraine and save you from severe pain.
